Blame nvidia or not?

After recieving some mails complaining about nvidia, I felt I got to comment on this. While NVIDIA may produce good drivers, they remain, if my information is still correct, closed source. This means many of the advantages we have from GNU/Linux are removed:

• debugging the driver
• really trust the driver -- perhaps they work together with MS?
• changing / adding feautures
• can't use the good code for developing other drivers
• and so on..

In fact I don't want Nvidia to stop developing drivers, but to provide them in open source. Their work could get integrated into XFree86 or the kernel framebuffer code.
As soon as something like this happens I'll remove Nvidia from this site.
